Holding our breaths until the election of our lifetimes
Donald Trump is accelerating his efforts at total control just prior to the crucial midterms. This IS, of course, the election of our lifetimes.
And the lifetime of America as a free democracy. If Democrats win back control of both houses from the do-nothing, enabling Republicans, the authoritarian madness can be stopped.
In the space of only the last few days, Trump’s minions have raided a Democratic Congressman’s house and have begun antitrust investigations of ALL the new outlets. Trump himself has made another deal with Putin that will allow Russia more funding to accelerate its assault on Ukraine, has now called into question the leadership of Ukraine, and spent a ten-minute rant in front of a crowd regarding how HE should have won the Nobel Peace Prize. His private army and police force (ICE) continues to terrorize American cities, still shooting innocents. And when I said ‘minions’, that is all that is left. The good people, the decent people have all said NO and either left or been fired. There exist no bulwarks any longer. Pete Hegseth, Todd Blanche, JD Vance, Tom Homan… continue the list and no one remains but minions, all in service of the most despicable human on the planet.
We’re in trouble. Unless the midterm results are a landslide, THEY will question the results. Mike Johnson (another minion) may refuse to seat and swear-in the newly elected majority.
And our greatest fear and expectation is that Trump is going to make up an excuse to call for a National Emergency prior to or at election time. We must hope those who also fear this will be ready, and that they’ll have judges on standby. Except for the U.S. Supreme Court, it has been the judiciary that has saved us so far by staving off issue after issue, even if it’s seemed to do so at glacial speed. Every American must vote November 3 and each must vote for America.
Vote for America. In the meantime, hold your breath.
