No Kings protests were inspiring and a promising sign that Americans are standing up against Trump

No Kings protests were inspiring and a promising sign that Americans are standing up against Trump

An amazing day in Sioux Falls and the country!

The “No Kings” crowd here filled the south side of 10th street from the viaduct to Cliff and South to near 12th. Inside Drake Springs park there were hundreds.

All ages. All colors. Determined folks. Some angry. Strangers talking to each other. Homemade signs everywhere. Iran, the ballroom, the Save Act, inflation, tariffs, gas prices, ICE, Border Patrol, and DHS shutdown were some of the topics.

Being there was energizing. Lots of horns honking as cars passed by.

Similar scenes in villages and metropolises, in Blue and Red states. Some stories quoted former MAGA followers now part of the protests.

I smile when I read those comments.

It is obvious momentum is building. People are braving not just the weather but as one sign in New York, I think it was said, “Even the introverts are here.”

Early national stories do not report any violence. I didn’t see any in Sioux Falls.

The building momentum is important. Make that critical.

In our state the primary is Tuesday, June 2. There are some races where incumbent Republicans are facing challengers.

I’m going to change my registration from independent to Republican so I can participate in choosing the best candidate. The person willing to represent ALL of us, not just fellow cult members.

After the election going back to independent.

Saturday was a great day in Sioux Falls and the United States. I don’t think we are as divided as our leaders want us to be.

Let’s keep the energy, the enthusiasm, the momentum.

Change in this country starts with change where we live.
