Former Sioux Falls mayor Knobe: Sen. Thune, will you ever stand up to Trump as he tramples on laws and morality?
Sen. John Thune, here is a serious question: Do you own a red crayon?
If you do, have you used it lately? You know, to draw a line that isn’t supposed to be crossed?
Many of us in South Dakota are wondering. We haven’t seen one anywhere near you.
No line on trashing the Constitution. No line on tariffs. No line on gutting congressionally approved programs and funding. No line on ignoring court rulings.
No line when the military arbitrarily kills two survivors of a boat blown up by the military. No line when threats are issued against Greenland, Mexico, Canada — all of them allies.
No line when the president insults women doing their jobs. John, do you have a line if he says “Quiet, piggy” to your wife, daughters, or grandchildren?
No line when he lies, which he does regularly. No line as his words and actions get more destructive.
No line on the rogue actions of your friend Kristi Noem and the agents she is allowing to do whatever they want wherever they want, not following law enforcement standards, resulting in death.
John, bullets are flying. People are dying. Former allies are gearing up for possible armed conflict with us.
It is intuitively obvious to the most casual observer, the MAGA and America First movements are really about making Trump richer and more powerful, while the rest of us get poorer and literally weaker.
Both efforts are coming apart. Note the votes in your chamber and the House this week. Very soon you will have a full-blown revolt on your hands. It will be ugly.
You can’t do the right thing and please Trump at the same time. Impossible.
Stop trying. Get a red crayon.
You can borrow mine.
