Fed raises interest rates, exposes Trump’s ineptitude
As if we needed more verification of President Trump’s inability to control the world and make it spin to his liking, the Federal Reserve Board just announced that interest rates are going up. Why? Because inflation is still unacceptably high.
Trump, who vowed that grocery prices would come down on “day one” of his administration and that he would get inflation under control, has been exposed as a victim of his own ineptitude.
Despite warning after warning that his tariff fixation would raise prices on nearly everything that Americans buy, Trump went ahead with his plans to tariff just about every country in sight. The result? Tariffs drove excess inflation.
Despite his promise that the war with Iran would be over in a few weeks, Trump found out he grabbed a tiger by its tail. Here we are, eight months into a war that looks like it has no end in sight, dealing with some of the highest energy prices ever because of it.
Despite blaming high prices on the Biden administration, inflation has accelerated since Trump took office in 2025.
These facts, as you might expect, haven’t done much to bring Trump back into contact with reality. He’s still delusionally claiming that “affordability” is a fake word made up by Democrats.
To no one’s surprise, his handpicked head of the Federal Reserve Board, Kevin Warsh, raised interest rates, bringing a dose of the treatment for a malady that Trump claims is fake — unacceptably high inflation.
The stock market took a huge hit as an immediate result. Less immediate, but insidious nonetheless, will be the coming uptick in interest rates across the board. Everybody who borrows money will feel this one.
More concerningto me is the longer range effect of the war in Iran and the way violence has spread across the Arabian peninsula. Oil supplies and prices are bound to be affected by this extension of the fighting westward from the Strait of Hormuz into Saudi Arabia.
Trump’s notion that “affordability” is a figment of someone’s political imagination will be exposed, along with his other delusions of adequacy — never mind grandeur — as a real and very unpleasant result of his ineptitude and disconnection from reality.
